Amazing views from the Capilano Lookout of the South Saskatchewan River towards downtown Saskatoon. Meet at 202 Capilano Drive on June 23rd at 7:30pm. Leader: June McDonald
There are 3 potential sites in close proximity:
1. Meet at Capilano Lookout in River Heights which overlooks river and bridges. You can park on Capilano Drive. Stunning view in daylight and a totally different beautiful view when sun is setting – with lights on bridges, river and cityscape . One suggestion is to start the evening at this look out and then return near the end of evening to get lighted view, if you wish.
2. Ravine Drive Stairs – 71 stairs with nice view – runs parallel to Ravine Drive. Short walk West of Capilano Lookout. At bottom, cross Spadina Crescent for pretty view of s-curve bend in river. If you want to drive to the bend in river, you can park on Ravine Drive.
3. Meewasin Park: Turn left onto Spadina Crescent at bottom of Ravine Drive and continue for 1 km (approx.). Turn right into Meewasin Park (at the 2 Loraas bins ) where you will find a parking lot, and bathrooms . To the southeast of parking lot are 2 stone structures – good opportunity for portraits on the long curving rock formation on the 1st one; second one is a tall vertical stone and metal structure in the same vicinity.
