Congratulations to the 22 winners of this year’s Fall and Spring Competitions.

In this live webcast for the Camera Club with Matt Kloskowski, you’ll learn some great techniques for editing your photos in Lightroom and when to jump over to Photoshop to help out. This will be a late beginner to early intermediate level presentation, but really… it’s just about having some fun with your photos and improving your editing during this time indoors.

To encourage us to keep active taking photos, we will be running a series of photo challenges, one every two weeks. At the close of the challenge, we will post up all the submissions to the gallery so we can collectively go through and evaluate each other’s work. The topic for the first challenge is “Spring”. The deadline for submitting entries is Saturday March 28th. Photos for this challenge must have been taken during these two weeks. The web interface isn’t up quite yet but will appear at https://saskatoonphotographyclub.com/challenges by the end of this weekend. In light of other organizations ending their meetings until the end of the school year along with the logistical difficulties of running virtual presentations and judging, the board has made the hard decision to cancel the remainder of the year’s program. However, as cameras have not (yet?) been identified as a source of pathogens, we can still get out and shoot! To encourage us, we will be running a series of photo challenges, one every two weeks. Regarding the Covid-19 global pandemic: The board has discussed our options for the regular Saskatoon Camera Club meetings, and have unanimously decided to suspend meeting until further notice. While the wording of the directive from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health gives some leeway for our organization, we feel obligated to follow the recommendation to stop the meetings. There are a larger than average number of people in our club in more vulnerable groups, and many members have traveled during the winter. We are evaluating what options we have that would allow us to run the remaining two club competitions and the planned PRPA club entry. The CAPA club entry is all digital so should not be affected. The directive to cancel non-essential gatherings is not strictly a preventative measure but aimed at slowing the rate of spread to avoid overwhelming our medical facilities with critical cases. We have an opportunity to flatten the curve of infected cases and deaths. We have an opportunity to demonstrate care and respect for those in more vulnerable demographics. We will continue to evaluate the situation and will post again as soon as we have more information regarding our meetings. In the meantime, we encourage you to continue to get out and shoot, within the guidelines given by the Ministry of Health.
