So what is a Car Rally? In the simplest of terms a car rally is a game where contestants are given clues and jobs to perform while driving a route defined by the clues.  Each team consists of a driver and two or three team members who all work together to achieve the goals needed to win the game.  Each team is scored on the time it takes for them to complete the rally as well as how well they managed to solve the clues and brought back things we asked for.

The upcoming Car Rally / Scavenger Hunt on Saturday July 12th will be an afternoon of fun filled with photography, riddles and so much more ending with a BBQ at Karen’s.  Depending on the number of teams we get the event will kick off around noon with each team starting 10 minutes apart. To best organize this we need you to create your teams and send us the information on or before Friday the 11th of July.  The rules are simple all we need is: A driver and three other team members who can be spouses, friends, relatives or anyone else you would like on your team.  In a pinch we can make do with three but four is better. Some photo gear so you can take your pictures.  The Car Rally does not finish until you hand in your pictures at the end and timing is part of the score.  Hint, if you just shoot JPG and copy your images to the USB we will give you at the end you will save you a lot of time.  Also, we will have computers and card readers ready for you to use at the finish line Anyone on the team is allowed to shoot but you may find it advantageous to not have the driver do some or most of the photography A smart phone might come in handy (another hint). What we need from you: Team Name – come up with a fun name for your team (think of a cleaver name for your team, like “What the F’ Stops!”) Members of the team and the name of the driver (3 or 4 people) An email address of one of the teams members so we can send you further instructions Send this information to Jannik: jannik@jannik.ca or Karen: kmpfoto@sasktel.net. This will be a lot of fun and I really encourage you to come out and participate.  Also, if you bring some non-camera club members it would be a great way to introduce them to the club.  After spending the afternoon, figuring out the clues to destinations, collecting required images, you will end up in a secret location to socialize the evening and share your stories of how you ‘legally’ got your images.

We have been invited for a special visit to Courtney Milne’s home just outside the city of Saskatoon on July 27th at 1pm.  We will be meeting at the Walmart on the West End (225 Betts Avenue) in the Southeast corner of the parking lot at 1pm and then caravan out to his property about 10 minutes West of the city. Bring your walking shoes, a bottle of water and your camera to shoot around the property of about 80 acres and also the pool that has been made famous by Courtney’s photos.  Courtney’s wife, Sherrill Miller will be giving a tour of the Milne gallery of images in the house and don’t miss her presentation.  We are welcome to spend the afternoon shooting his home and property. Special Presentation by Sherrill Miller: Beyond the Third Note re-weaving the texture of a life We all have the opportunity to reinvent our lives every day.  However when we are thrust into a journey of major life change – through illness, a death, divorce, retirement, relocation or other loss – it is no longer a choice, but becomes a necessity. In this presentation portraying wonder and beauty of spirit, Sherrill’s commentary is woven between sound-slide segments of Courtney’s mystical images with music by Ann Mortifee, Connie Kaldor and other inspirational musicians, on an excursion to recreate a life full of texture, grace and enchantment.
