CAPA: Canadian Association for Photographic Art

The Canadian Association for Photographic Art (CAPA) is a national organization of Canadian Camera clubs and individual members from Canada and around the world who have a common interest in photography. Club members of CAPA can be found across Canada and the Saskatoon Photography Club is happy to be one of those members.  CAPA has almost 90 member clubs and over 1,300 individual CAPA members.

CAPA members range from amateurs to professionals, many of whom are recognized among the best photographers in Canada. Frequently, CAPA members receive international acclaim through their published photographic work, articles and their courses. New photographers can quickly build their skills through interaction with other CAPA members, who will share their experience and techniques.

As a club member of CAPA the Saskatoon Photography Club is eligible to enter several club competitions throughout the year with entries being chosen from the individual members of the Saskatoon Photography Club. 

Among other things, some of the benefits of club membership in CAPA that are of use to our individual members are:

• Access to download a PDF of Canadian Photography Magazine that can be shared with all your club members
• Opportunity to enter to participate in the photographic competitions exclusively for CAPA Clubs
• Our club can request the list of CAPA Certified Judges who volunteer their time to evaluate and score images for club competitions
• Opportunity for club members to submit an article to Canadian Photography Magazine
• Opportunity to join the CAPA Clubs Facebook Page exclusively for CAPA Clubs

We also encourage you to consider becoming an individual member of CAPA in order to benefit even more from all that CAPA has to offer. 

Some of the benefits of an individual membership in CAPA are:

• Access to a digital copy of the full colour, high quality Canadian Photography Magazine quarterly to read online, with digital access to past issues
• Opportunity to enter eight different photographic competitions exclusively for CAPA members.
• You can attend a CAPA Judging Course to learn how to evaluate and critique images
• Learn new skills at our clubs, workshops, conferences and seminars
• You will receive regular newsletters about upcoming national and regional events, competitions and other CAPA news
• Access to participation in critique nights.
• Speakers Series – For the past three years CAPA has provided a monthly Speakers Series to our CAPA members. Participants have been inspired and motivated by exciting and innovative photographers who have shared their photographs and expertise via Zoom.
